Cancellation & Refund Policy
Private Therapeutic Counselling – Telehealth & In-Person (Tasmania)
Effective from: 22 October 2025​
At Private Therapeutic Counselling, we are committed to providing respectful, confidential, and consistent care to all clients. This cancellation and refund policy ensures clarity, fairness, and appropriate use of appointment times for both clients and therapist.

1. Cancellation Notice Requirements
Please provide a minimum of 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

2. Late Cancellations
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged 100% of the session fee.
For Monday appointments, notice must be given by the preceding Friday.
Consideration may be given in emergencies or exceptional situations, at the therapist’s discretion.

3. No-Shows (Missed Appointments Without Notice)
If you do not attend your scheduled appointment and no prior notice is given, the session will be considered a no-show.
Full session fee applies for no-shows.

4. Refunds
Prepaid sessions cancelled with at least 24 hours’ notice are eligible for a full refund or credit.
No refunds will be provided for:
Late cancellations
No-shows
Sessions already started or completed
Refunds (where applicable) will be processed within 5–7 business days to your original payment method.

5. Therapist Cancellations
If the therapist must cancel a session due to unforeseen circumstances or illness, you will be offered:
An alternative appointment time, or
A full refund (if the session was prepaid)

6. Emergencies & Exceptions
We understand that emergencies and unexpected events happen. Exceptions to the cancellation fee may be made for:
Sudden illness
Family or personal emergencies
Power or internet outages (for telehealth)
These will be considered on a case-by-case basis at the therapist’s discretion.

7. NDIS, EAP & Third-Party Funded Clients
If your sessions are funded by the NDIS, EAP, or other third parties, please note:
Cancellation policies may differ according to your service agreement.
Private Therapeutic Counselling will follow the applicable provider’s cancellation policy where required.
